So I see Tom made a FP post, naturally like many users, I'm going to click it and read it.

About the topic of that post, imo AlmightyHans pretty much summed up my opinion of it.

Everything by everyone can mean different things.

"Everyone can put something here"- or "The Best Of all Types"
This choice would be how Tom wants to do it.

But what prompted me to make this is Tom's reply to one comment about adult games.

"We actually will be filtering out Adult rated submissions from awards in the future, which I know will cause SOME controversy but people will just have to get over it... Adult stuff always finds a crowd so it doesn't need our help to promote it."

well.. not trying to be the controversy, nor insist it be promoted here.
but I will post some.. alternatives? ><
being someone who posts adult stuff into my mix of crap.

Before I begin, I realize what I'm writing won't really matter. So yeah.

But firstly note that I have funny-games ads on my adult crap for sponsors.
If Newgrounds sponsored adult stuff it would have been Newgrounds for sure.

I draw my own crap. And code it.
I actually left from Newgrounds looking for a sponsor elsewhere.

And peeps I can tell you, finding a sponsor for adult flash is not as easy as it seems. Damn near everyone just wants to steal your crap to put on their site. Extreme caution is needed. I'm saying this from experience.

Also I actually joined Newgrounds to work with a team of other NG users on a adult flash. (check my early post history)

Though Tom's reasoning IS understandable, I would like to mention some adult artists do exist on here that make their own crap that isn't a stolen click through art gallery.

More original artists will come if it is more inviting, but as it is, it is not very attractive, and by that reply I read, it is going to be getting worse.

So thank you to all to the hentai peeps who submit stolen art flash galleries and demos and crap. good job. Now when I decide to compete on NG for a daily medal for a adult rated game coded and drawn myself, and collaborated with other NG artists... I wont be able to! :D

And I've been working on some epic shit. Don't judge by my old crap here. I've been working on some pretty good crap for the past year or so. Oh and Nakoruru is my muse and the bestest ever!

Note that I haven't uploaded anything for quite a while. But I have been lurking the flash portal.

And what I think is really "stealing" daily medals is sponsored flash from other sites in general. The rating being adult down to everyone doesn't really matter.

Imo if you have your flash pimped out with Newgrounds links and stuff you should be able to compete in the portal for a trophy. If not then you cant.

alternative suggestions (for what they are worth, which is nothing I am sure T_T;)

Maybe trophies can be applied by rating? Everyone, Teen, etc.
Or maybe by type? like parody, etc.

another might be separate trophies for sponsored games/movies?

and maybe a adult trophy is weekly? something like turd of the week

Hit me with some feedback Newgrounds I want to know what peeps think.

You have also consider how old it is. My stuff usually takes a roller coaster ride after coming out of judgment between people who like hentai and people who don't, and people who get friends to zero bomb my crap to get a higher trophy as NG nears reset time for voting that day.

Eventually as it makes it's way out of latest submissions, and the only people that see it is people who do like hentai. I am grateful some of my stuff can be found from the mature collections. So that naturally reveals the other works I have.

That does seem pretty unfair, I'd personally much rather them block parodies and anything containing copyrighted characters or music, now that would be fantastic :D But sadly as Newgrounds grows, they've grown more censored. I've been here since '01, and I remember adult material was plastered everywhere when I was a kid. There was a popup ad with every flash you clicked advertising shitty adult e-Zines. Boy, those were the days. Eh, well. Everybody wants to be mo fosisticated.

I was reading about those old days one day in the NG history section. I'd figure that's how some of those submissions reached 30 million+

Indeed, however I don't think you realize the effort that goes into some of it. This would be the rest of the most you mentioned. It is on par with other games and depending on the game, can be a lot more complex.

If Tom doesn't want to give trophies to adult Flashes, then I doubt he'd give a unique award to adult movies.

To be honest, I think giving awards by rating applied by rating is not a good idea. Why should a Flash be single-handed out for it's use of swearing, violence and adult content? That's daft. It's not as if E, T and M rated Flashes are a genre in themselves, anyway.

Flashes should be awarded by whether the community think it's good or not.

I'm not sure of Tom's reasons, so hopefully you'll find out why. My simplest guess is that he doesn't want to showcase adult Flashes. My other assumption is that people just can't vote on adult Flashes fairly.

It might not be a good idea however, It seems flash in fact will be single-handed out for it use of these things anyway though. Whatever makes it adult rating, It may be just something violent that gives it that rating, sexual content aside.

But I might change that single-handed out to categorized by viewing audience.

Whatever the reasons I'm sure they are logical. Not trying to make a huge uproar, just throwing my 2 cents into the pan. Your last sentence I can definitely agree with.

We'll take all this into consideration for future decisions. If we can get all the right systems in place to prevent undeserving submissions from winning, then maybe it won't be necessary to have a blanket ban on adult content winning awards.

Personally I don't think adult submissions should get awards, because of Tom's reasoning. They really do get plenty of recognition, and what does it really matter if an adult movie has a huge following and no 20x20-pixel Internet trophy images?

But if you make something not for the sole purpose of having adult content, but for actually artistic purposes, I guess those would be worthy of potential daily awards.

Hm... Maybe the intent behind adult submissions could be a multi-option setting in the submission process for a Flash, or something, and depending on that intent, it may or may not be eligible for trophies? Weird idea, but a thought.

And yes it matters, at least to me. I can't speak for anyone but myself I care about everything I send through the portal.

Some people create flash for the sole purpose of it being spam, and they can get trophies because it is a terrible flash.

It's tough being an adult artist on newgrounds. Countless times I've seen a daily award got to some crappy hentai gallery full of picture found of google. When you really try to make something, it either gets swept under the rug or some douche put it on his website. It's very unfair but, hey what can you do. But what really grinds my gears is when junk like meet n' fuck or some other crap gets all the attention and praise in the world! It's completely backwards. The less effort you put into it the better it will do, but then when you really try you're just wasting your time. All of my adult submissions have gone through this same crap yet they seem to be the most fruitful ironically. I guess that's why you just gotta keep doing what your doing and hope for the best.

I'm starting to think now that adult stuff can be approved my a mod, to be able to compete for trophies or not in the future. Or maybe some cap on trophies from adult content.

Though my thought logic would be, if you made it yourself, did all the art yourself and sfx yourself or through collaboration with others, and the characters are not copyright, It should be able to compete for trophies.

People vote high for different things. There are many things that unfairly get voted high. It is not just the adult stuff.
